Simone Black (who works at Moran Aged Care Engadine) was awarded the annual Caringbah Lions Excellence in Aged Care Award at Sharkies, Cronulla.
Runners up Jackie Fadda (the Palms Aged Care ) and Stephanie Ison (Sir Thomas Mitchell Aged Care Facility) were also highly recommended by their employers, residents and families. Guests also included other staff members from the nominating organisations.
Rita Martin ( Government & Community Relations Aged Care) spoke warmly and passionately about the nature of the work staff in aged care do- physically and emotionally draining work it is as anyone who has had to care for a loved one who’s declining will attest. She also spoke about the fear that many people have about their own future when possibly they might have to enter assisted or high care – we are worried about what the quality of that care might be. Ms Martin praised their commitment and that of their employers in aspiring to high quality care; and to the Lions Club for promoting awareness.
